Really? All they do lately is beg for money
They go even further and quote this same article and in the end of the meeting there's a letter asking for money and nobody seems to notice the hypocrisy, it happened some months ago in my KH.
if you went to it, (or go later this week) how was it handled?
just the video or some commentary too?.
i have heard of a few negative comments from some that attended - one jw even openly said to me "not very encouraging, all they go on about is money lately" and another (a serving elder, no less) said "someone's got to pay for all those lawsuits".

I was thinking to myself:
"Why is it ok to set an automatic donation everymonth on my credit card, (what means I don't even need to think about donating as far as the donation goes in) but if I send a scripture everymonth to my 500 e-mal contacts I still need to go to field service in order to be an active christian?"
up until the very end, my mother refused blood.
it didn't matter if it was a blurred line or not, the bible says "no blood"!
i wonder if she was in the minority, in her thinking.
I disagree with Konceptual. I don't really know why but the JW take the Blood issue way more seriously than any other teaching from the WT. I have seen not few cases of people who were disfellowshipped or inactive who didn't take blood.
By the way, I always thought that it's easier to "plan" not to take blood in a previously set surgery, for example. I believe, however, that in case of an accident and they need the blood just to stay alive until the doctors finish the surgery in the spur of the moment, it's not so simple to stick to their "morals".
how often did we as witnesses say something like this : "unlike members of false religion, who venerate or worship through statues or idols, we give our focus to jehovah!".
members of religious groups focus their religious adoration via an image or statue.
they do this in order to provide some sort of focus to their need to worship.. witnesses give extreme focus on the name "jehovah" .
It's simple. Ask them if they can imagine worshipping God without the Org, the publications or the Kingdom Hall. Then tell them that's the same feeling the Catholics have for their little statues.
well, we are studying the book of daniel in the meetings now, and this week was the reading about the four beasts and the goat etc.. i got suprised that the sources didn't include any page of the wt book pay attention to daniel's prophecy,.
my only guess is that they have already changed something too big to take the risk of a average witness go searching and start to make questions about their allegedly inspiration..

was talking with a family member today and they said that there is something special going on at the kh this weekend.
any idea what it is?
they said that some kind of broadcast from bethel for everyone..
Darkspilver
So, I have no Idea of something abnormal going on. Maybe it's just there in the US.
About the 'TV' talk, I'm pretty sure that it will be a branch commitee member to give the talk in everywhere it's possible to broadcast. I thought that in the US it could be a GB member.

The "new" thing is that the Special talk that is given near the time of the celebration will be now given by a branch representative or governing body member and then everybody will watch through the screen.
so this is an honest question that i have been thinking about for some time.. do regular jehovahś witnesses in other countries (other than the usa) take the governing body in new york seriously?.
i mean, i cant help but wonder about the publishers in japan, or south africa, or mexico, or new zealand, or even the uk, or spain, or italy...... or russia?.
not you and i (we know what you think of them), but the regular jwś...... do they take these american buffoons seriously?
Circular reasoning. They are trained to believe Jehovah uses "a" group of men in the US. Not "this" group of men. That's why most don't care about their flaws. They see them as normal people who are now with the "superpower" of governing body-ness.
I could tell that even if all the holy seven were replaced in a month, most of the JW would make up a reason of what Jehovah did that, join this make up explanation with the "official" one that would come from the new GB and move on, now being slaves of seven different people.
what is the youngest you have seen someone baptised?
i recall seeing a 9 yo girl baptised..
Interesting, they state that the two most important steps in anyone's life are the baptism and the marriage. however, They urge to baptize people as young as possible but try to cut off any sign of love or sexual interest that could lead to the marriage "until being mature enough". Double standards.
